Family law matters can and often does get referred to mediation by the judge. This process takes place at the office of the mediator in a non-adversarial environment conducive to helping the two parties to resolve areas of disagreement. Also, all matters discussed and shared during the mediation process is confidential and inadmissible in court with a few exceptions involving abuse and/or criminal activity, which makes mediation a valuable tool to resolve conflicts and minimize legal expenses for each person involved.
